do "Page Views", "Visits" and "Unique
Visits" mean? Page Views: Hits to
files designated as pages. Supporting graphics and other non-page

a visitor comes to your site. If a visitor is idle longer than
the 30-minute idle-time limit, WebTrends assumes the visit

are not counted. Number of Page Views (Impressions)
tells you how many pages were looked at during the period of

How
do I promote my website to search engines? The search
engines may not find your site unless you invite a them to
come and visit. There is an informative artilcle on search
engine optimization here. http://www.searchengines.com/intro_optimize.html I
am seeing a disturbing trend with some of the popular search
engines. Alot of them are requesting a payment to look at it
right away. If you don't pay... they come and visit when ever
they get around to it. Could be up to 4 weeks or more... if
at all. Yahoo is not even accepting free listings for commercial
websites any more. Here is a link to the Google search engine
free submission page...
http://www.google.com/addurl.html
Search engines thrive on text. When they come to visit make sure there
is alot of relevant text for them to key in on. How to articles, FAQs,
testimonials are some of the type of text intensive pages you can add to
a site to embellish it somewhat. The first sentence and paragraph on the
main page is extremely important. It should contain significant keywords
and be relevant to the product and service. Bad... Welcome to our
page. We hope you enjoy it. Better... Acme Widgets is a distributor
of high quality Widgets throughout ME, NH and Mass. Some search engines
will even give you a higher ranking if they have seen links to your site
on other sites. From what I have seen and read,... search engine optimization
is more of an art than a science. What works for one may fail miserably
and possibly get you penalized with another. When I was doing web work
I would visit competitors websites of listings that ranked high in the
engines. I would check out their keywords and try to analyse the site for
the reason they ranked high.Sometimes the crappiest sites that defied search
engine optimization logic ranked high. Hard to figure. Sometimes luck and
being there first helps.. The best thing to do is to read-up on the topic
as much as you can. All of the so called search engine optimization gurus
have different ideas as to what works and what doesn't. After researching
the topic you will notice some common threads and techniques that many
use. You can develop a strategy from there.Above all don't be bashful to
experiment. If it works... great. If not... try something else.Wish there
was a quick, easy magical solution. More resources to check out...
